Chicken Every Way

Anna Marie of the Unilever Consumer Kitchens on great new ways to cook chicken.

recipe
I’m guessing your grocery store is like mine: There are specials on chicken nearly every week. But I know some of you feel that while you don’t like to pass up a deal, the thought of serving chicken breasts every night can be less than inspiring. We’re here to help! In my view, the best way to think of chicken is not as the star of the show but as a tasty, protein-rich backdrop to a huge variety of flavors.

So next time you see a jumbo pack of chicken breasts on sale, put a few in your cart – toss whatever you don’t plan to use in the next day or two in your freezer until you’re ready to use them – and then try cooking them up in these fun and unexpected ways. No one will ever guess all these meals came from the same package!

Here, a week’s worth of delicious chicken ideas:

Monday: Grill the first night, brushing the breasts with your favorite barbeque sauce. Or try our Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken, made with Hellmann's® Honey Mustard. Have some Wish-Bone® Salad Spritzers® Raspberry Bliss® Vinaigrette Dressing on hand? Use it to make our Beets & Goat Cheese Salad and you’ll have an easy and satisfying meal. (Be sure to grill a couple extra breasts for the next night, then store them in an airtight container in your fridge.)

Tuesday: Use the meat you grilled the night before for our quick and easy Buffalo Chicken Quesadillas or Grilled Chicken & Mango Wraps. Serve with our Avocado-Corn Salad with Creamy Salsa Dressing.

Wednesday
: Thaw a few more pieces and try one of our crowd-pleasing pasta dishes, such as Chicken Carbonara Rosa, made with Bertolli® Classico™ Olive Oil, along with a side of Italian Steamed Broccoli.

Thursday:  If you didn’t quite use up all the cooked chicken in your pasta dish, make a quick chicken salad with the leftovers. Also, keep in mind that kids love our cheesy Chicken Salad Panini. Whip up a side of Green Bean Casserole  and everyone will leave the table happy.

Friday
: For a tasty and substantial meal, try our spicy Cajun Jambalaya, made with Knorr® Fiesta Sides™ - Spanish Rice, add a tossed green salad and finish with Classic Strawberry Shortcake.

Saturday: For Saturday night supper, try something with that’s light and flavorful, like Chicken with Artichokes and Sun-Dried Tomato. Serve with Aunt Peggy’s Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes, fresh green beans and your favorite white wine.

Sunday: The perfect meal for a lazy Sunday? A hearty bowl of Chicken Chili. Add some warm fresh bread, or Championship Cornbread, a fresh green salad and finish with something sweet, like ourExtra Special Peanut Butter Cereal Treats.
